I’ve got a confession to make. You ready? Here it is.
Every time I stay in a hotel, I can’t stop myself taking the complimentary hotel shampoo, conditioner, bubble bath, shower cap etc…
I know that I will never use them, but the kleptomaniac within me, tells me that I NEED them.
Having collected enough items to possibly start my own Priceline store, I decided to seek out a local homeless shelter and give them to someone who really needs them.
Pindari Women’s shelter in Spring Hill, Brisbane, were my pick, and they were so grateful for them.
Often women arrive on their doorstep with only the clothes on their back and donations like mine allows them to have some small comforts from just some soap, a toothbrush, some shampoo….
So. There finally is a good reason for my stashing of these hotel goodies!
And I figure if I’m a bit of a hotel toiletries klepto, then possibly other people are as well (c’mon, admit it!). Or maybe you’re a bit of a beauty junky and have a few extra (unopened) bottles and jars of product lying around that you don’t plan on using?
Why not do a clear out of your bathroom cabinet and donate what you don’t need to your local homeless shelter? Or another way you could help, is next time you buy some toiletries for yourself, buy a double set to donate.
It’s a small but meaningful act of kindness with a big feel-good factor. And at the same time, you can feel grateful that you (hopefully) will never need to use an emergency accommodation service.
A bathroom clean-out for a good cause, or a positive ending to a hotel kleptomania habit. Gotta be happy with that.
I’ve been doing the same thing – collecting the toiletries and donating them to charities.. such a lovely idea, well done!
Thanks Julie! x
I really like this article 🙂 Good idea too x

I did this last year – it’s probably time to go through them all again.
