Thank you to the ever-generous and lovely Katrina Blowers for this guest post:
Will your Christmas stocking be filled with feel-good factor this year?
Rather than battling shopping centre crowds, click your way to stockings stuffed with exquisite gifts by bidding in the 2011 Mummy’s Wish Facebook Christmas Auction beginning Friday November 11.
And unlike other Christmas gifts, these come with a double dose of cheer. One hundred per cent of the auction proceeds will go to Mummy’s Wish, a charity that helps mums with cancer.
There are more than 80 items to bid on with NO RESERVE!
The auction items, all donated by generous Australian businesses, would be top of anyone’s wish list for Santa.
They include: a handcrafted vintage-inspired tutu fit for a princess, family portrait sessions with leading photographers, Design a Cupcake Party vouchers, a family pass to the Brisbane Rhymes Festival and gorgeous jewelry.
Mummy’s Wish is a charity founded in 2007 by two Brisbane mums, Bernadette and Gayle.
Through their own experiences with cancer they understood first-hand the challenges of having a young child and undergoing treatment.
They set up a charity to provide practical support to mums with cancer, such as fuel vouchers, cleaners, treat bags, parking vouchers for hospitals and borrowed laptops.
The aim of the auction, which is proudly supported by www.brisbanekids.com.au and www.finleeandme.com.au, is to raise $5,000 to buy 50 mums grocery vouchers/ hampers worth $100 each to help them celebrate Christmas.
The auction ends Friday November 25.
“Mummy’s Wish is excited to be raising Christmas funds for the mums we support,” said Mummy’s Wish co-founder, Gayle Richardson.
“Christmas can be a very emotional time for families dealing with a sick family member, so we are hoping to ease some of stress by providing some very practical support.”
Those who would like to contribute some Christmas magic without bidding at the auction can donate money directly to: www.givenow.com.au/mummyswish or make a donation over the phone: 07 3103 0649.
Aw, this is great! I like how you call them pressies 🙂
