shoe boxes of love

The concept behind Shoe Boxes of Love Inc. is simple. To provide  love, hope, and support to individuals directly affected by a disaster, through the provision of Shoe Boxes of Love; boxes of essential and luxury items.

Shoe Boxes of Love Inc was launched by Kimberley Marshall from South Australia in January 2011 in response to the devastating Queensland floods.  Kimberley emailed family, friends and colleagues asking them to donate items or a whole box she dubbed “Shoe Boxes of Love”.  The incredible end result was over 5000 Shoes Boxes of Love being donated from all over Australia, and given directly to people in need.

Sadly, parts of Queensland and NSW are yet again facing another flood crisis and Shoe Boxes of Love have swung back into action, and they NEED YOUR HELP!

WILL YOU DONATE JUST ONE SHOE BOX OF LOVE?

It is easy, all you need to do is find a shoebox and fill it with items that people in crisis need.  It is something you could do at your work, with your children or just by yourself! Here are some examples of what you could include in your Shoe Box of Love:

  • NEW underwear (with tags still attached please!)
  • soap, hand sanitiser, shampoo and conditioner
  • Sunscreen, face-wipes, deodorant, toothbrushes, toothpaste
  • Garbage bags, disinfectant, pet food
  • Children’s colouring books, crayons, pencils, skipping rope, bubble blowers and liquid
