Do you remember the excruciatingly awkward age of 14? Being intensely overwhelmed by the future, pressured by the decisions to be made and not knowing what to do when you grow up? If only we could time-warp ourselves back to our 14-year-old self and give ourselves a good talking to. I think I would share some vague basic stuff like ‘enjoy your sleep ins and lack of responsibilities’ and also some more pointed stuff like ‘a vintage car isn’t a very smart first car’ and possibly, most importantly ‘don’t date that boy’. Yes, this would all have been very helpful back then.
Well until someone hurries up and invents that time-machine, the next best thing is to become a mentor and share your life’s wisdom with another young soul. In line with my other posts about mentoring and volunteering, here is an opportunity that I am hoping might interest you…
YWCA Queensland, a women’s organisation dedicated to inspiring young women, are piloting a new program called Y Bloom in Brisbane Australia, working with grade 9 girls to build confidence and leadership skills for use throughout their lives.
They are looking for some Queensland based women (sorry guys!) to become mentors for this program over a 10 week program starting in term 2 on Thursdays for a few hours. There will be other programs commencing later in the year.
So go on, get involved in your community and make a positive and lasting difference in the life of a young girl, check out the below flyer, visit the YWCA Queensland website and /or contact them via email here.
Another way you can help is repost this on your facebook, twitter or linkedin to see if your friends, family or co-workers might like to get involved.
Have a GREAT day!

I’m really enjoying the design and layout of your site. It’s a very easy on the
eyes which makes it much more pleasant for me to come here
and visit more often. Did you hire out a designer
to create your theme? Exceptional work!
