Earlier this week, I was lucky enough to be rubbing shoulders with Queensland’s culinary royalty at the inaugural Queensland Good Food Guide launch and awards!
In reading my copy of the Guide, edited by the lovely Natascha Mirosch, I am so pleased to see there is a section dedicated to Queensland restaurants who are differentiating themselves from the pack by putting sustainability at the forefront of everything they do.
I love that sustainability is being celebrated and that there is a growing market for chefs to deliberately source organic and local produce, often designing their menus from what is in season grown in their own kitchen garden. The benefits of all this are HUGE, not only is the consumer getter fresher food on their plate, there is also a reduced carbon footprint, minimising our impact on the earth, and increased support for local farmers/suppliers which all in turn build stronger local communities for you and for me.
Now it is up to us, lovers of good food to vote with our custom, and support these restaurants/cafes who are just as focussed on serving up great food, as they are with the environmental consequences of what we eat. Check out the Good Food Guide’s list below:
