I love the little things in life that you can do to help someone else that makes a big difference. Like, eating a piece of cheesecake that helps a charity…did I get your attention, yes you read correctly, cheesecake = helping a charity – is this the BEST fundraiser ever?
For the entire month of March Meals on Wheels Queensland are running an inaugural campaign for aptly called Eat Out to Help Out. It is quite simple really, you go out for breakfast, lunch or dinner at a participating Eat Out to Help Out restaurant and donate a small part of your bill to Meals on Wheels Queensland. Some particpiating restaurants are even willing to match your donation, nice! Check out the list of restaurants here, all proceeds from the campaign go to helping deliver meals to the elderly and people with a disability.
Meals on Wheels Queensland make and deliver over 2.4 million meals a year to more than 10,000 isolated and homebound members of our community. Apart from providing a healthy meal to clients, volunteers also offer support, care and a friendly face, and have been doing so for more than 50 years throughout Australia.
Meals on Wheels Queensland Chief Executive Officer Debra Tape said that every dollar collected will go to assisting local Meals on Wheels services provide meals for vulnerable community members. “We urge you to get involved and chip in to help out your local service by simply eating out at your local participating outlet.”
