I dont mind the mud, the fire, the ice, or even the 10,000 volts of electricity. Crazily enough, the obstacle that terrifies me the most is….the monkey bars. Even as a child, I avoided the monkey bars and this year’s Tough Mudder event at the Sunshine Coast is no different. I have been taking lessons from my five year old daughter. Progress is slow.
For those of you, who have no idea what I am talking about, Tough Mudder is a 20km mud-run with an obstacle at every kilometre specially (and evilly) designed by British Special Forces to test your all around strength, stamina, mental grit, and camaraderie. This is where the fire, ice, electricity and monkey bars come in. Yes one of the Tough Mudder obstacles is electrified and participants are required to sign a death waiver to register – check out their “bad ass” obstacles here.
Incredibly, I have convinced nine other people to join me in my charity team Ripple Massage Tough Mudder for Mummy’s Wish, as the name implies we are using our Tough Mudder efforts to raise money for charity Mummy’s Wish who help mums with cancer. Check out the team here. Over 4000 Australian mums with young children are diagnosed with cancer every year.
We are all signed up to the Sunshine Coast Tough Mudder event on Saturday 17th August 2013 and it is now officially sold out. However! I still two places left on my team, would like to join us? The lovely Ali from Ripple Massage is kindly providing each team member who fundraises with us, team kit, and a one hour massage post event, I surely will need this! Ripple Massage is the day spa that comes to you, operating in Queensland, NSW and Victoria.
You are very welcome to join us, or you can take the easy option and simply sponsor our team here! All money raised from our team will go directly to helping provide practical support and information to mums with cancer. Please sponsor us here!
Click on these links to find out more about Tough Mudder, Ripple Massage and Mummy’s Wish. I promise to send photos of my torture to all sponsors, thank you in advance for your support!
On a side note, this is my 100th blog post – thanks so much for reading!
Hats off to you Tara for doing this for our Mums. I won’t be joining your team – especially after checking out the obstacles. The Boa Constrictor terrifies me! I would rather run a Marathon for MW than do TM!!!!!
I am a monthly donor but I will ask Lachlan if he will donate some of his banking money to your efforts.
Jennifer
