This week I thought I would share an email I received about an online auction for a little boy Henry who has leukaemia – please forward this post onto anyone you know who love sports memorabilia, or simply want to help Henry and his family.
As many of you may know, Henry Gardiner, our great little mate from the University of Queensland Under 9 cricket team, was diagnosed with leukaemia last season. Unfortunately, his initial round of chemo was not successful and he has now undergone a bone marrow transplant. This is obviously a big shock and a traumatic time for Henry’s family, but Henry is as tough as nails and his spirits are good.
Henry’s parents (Andrew and Bridget) have been taking shifts at the hospital so someone is with Henry 24 hours a day, and with Henry’s three brothers (each as spirited as Henry) at home, the stress of keeping life as normal as possible for them while helping Henry fight his battle is too much for any family. The Gardiners are from NZ and they’ve been flying in family members from home to keep as much familiarity around the house as possible for the boys, and given Bridget can’t work while Henry needs so much help, the costs are piling up.
Team sport is all about supporting your team-mates, and thanks to your support we have now set up an eBay auction with some incredible donated items to raise some funds to offset the Gardiner’s costs.
Items include:
- Signed Sir Donald Bradman print
- Cricket Bat signed by Australian and New Zealand cricket teams
- Junior cricket coaching clinic for up to 100 kids
- Cricket Bat signed by legendary 1984 West Indies and Australian teams
- Signed Wallabies jersey
- Signed All Blacks jersey
- Sydney 2000 Olympics poster signed by Susie O’Neil
- Great AFL memorabilia
- Surfing memorabilia
- Mobile phones, rocking horse and golf passes.
The auction is LIVE on eBay until the 14th Aug – access via www.helphenry.com.au
Thanks for all your help – all we need to do now is spread the word.
Thanks for your support.
