Bachhara was born in the slums of Bangladesh where founder and designer, Amanda Ryan, was helping to run a free of cost school for slum children. With charitable donations running low, Amanda decided to take the future of her student’s families into her own hands. She started a sewing centre to create jobs for the children’s mothers, which would also generate a sustainable income for the school and its educational programs. What started as a two month volunteer trip to help the children of Bangladesh turned into a lifelong passion to empower the voice of women.

Yes you read correctly, you can buy chocolate and tick a box for Christmas kindness!  The Trading Circle is a not-for-profit ethical fair trade retailer established in Australia in 1995 specifically to support income generating projects, micro enterprises and community cooperatives to help women in dire need. Goods they produce are imported directly from these projects and sold via their stores (Brisbane, Sydney, Toowoomba, Perth), markets, fairs, conferences, website, direct marketing and corporate partnerships.

Sseko Designs is an ethical fashion brand that employs  women in Uganda to make sandals to enable them to earn money through dignified employment that will go directly towards their college educations and ensure they will continue pursuing their dreams. To date, Sseko have enabled 30 women to continue on to university. Sseko currently employ 45 women in Uganda from all walks of life.
